Downtown Development Authority (DDA)
The Kent City Downtown Development Authority (DDA) and District were created in 1989 to provide for and facilitate an environment attractive to business investment within the downtown district. The DDA is responsible for seasonal decorations and maintenance within the boundaries of the downtown district. The DDA also promotes district business growth by offering the Facade Enhancement Program, which is a matching grant offered to owners of properties classified as C1 & C2 located within the boundaries of the Kent City Downtown Development Authority for the purpose of renovation and upgrade to the façade on existing buildings, up to $5,000.00.
The Kent City DDA is a nine-member board comprised of a Chairman, Vice Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer, Business Owners within the Downtown District, Property Owners within the Downtown District, and Community Members. The DDA may levy and collect taxes and issue bonds. The DDA may acquire and dispose of personal and real property. The Village Council must approve the DDA improvement plan, its annual budget and financing plan.
